The centre point of the Seaside collection is Leona, a charming airy fabric. By inkjet a large-scale modern flower design is printed on a double width unbleached linen base. A strong design of large coloured flowers, outlines and shades as well as the semi-transparent pleasantly soft washed linen base turn Leona into a highlight. Four balanced colours give a fresh summer look to every room. Because of the special pattern the fabric must be railroaded.
Delicate mercerised cotton yarn is the base of double-width plain satin Grace. Woven as a warp satin this decoration fabric excels with a dense surface given an elegant shine with a slight calender finish. Further important characteristics are the feel of pure cotton and the heavy drape. Because of the heavy twisting of the yarn and the dense structure Grace has a very high abrasion resistance and is therefore useable as seat cover or even tight upholstery. 24 convincing piece-dyed colours make this fabric the new plain basic of Sahco.
This attractive Jacquard weave is one of the highlights of the Sahco collection 2011. A strong design inspired by Art-Déco and well coordinated materials are the base for this attractive decoration fabric. The design is mainly created by a twisted Mouliné yarn made of linen and viscose, hemmed by an additional pattern with small diamond shapes. An elegant and yet modern fabric, available in 7 colours and perfect for various uses.
With traditional transfer warp printing this almost dense decoration fabric is given its special structure. The border-like design of grass, blossoms and leaves is first applied to paper with rotary printing and later transferred to the unwoven warp. During weaving the typical shiftings of warp printing occur, which open up the design and give it a shadow-like outline. As technical as this may sound the result is a charming textile made of polyester and cotton with a modern taffeta-like character and yet a soft drape.
The sinus special feature of Sinus is the mixture of different materials. The mat base is a contrast to the high pile slightly shiny design. The strong relief with moving outlines sticks out boldly from the base, a very dynamic pattern emphasized by the use of a different colour in the pattern. With the combination of different materials and the contrast between high and low Sinus still enthuses even if used tone-in-tone.
This transparent delicate burnt-out quality is a pleasant contrast to the heavier decoration fabrics of the Botanic collection. The base consisting of fine viscose and polyamide is rotation printed. During this process the viscose is burnt out in the printed areas so that the transparent polyamide weave appears, creating a balanced leaf pattern. Caught in the light, the fabric seems beautifully natural, as if the sun is shining through the branches. The double width fabric can be made-up without seams and is perfect for large panels. 5 delicate hues can be used from modern to romantic.
The Botanic Collection is a true study in nature. Our process began by investigating botanical shapes, searching nearby parks for alluring flowers, leaves and branches. Using our New York studio as a darkroom, these elements became abstracted in photographic prints called cyanotypes, which we then translated into prints and woven textiles.
